Network Security Engineer

    About the role

Our client is hiring a hands-on Network Security Engineer to join the existing security team and work directly alongside the team lead who owns security architecture. You will turn designs into working systems: building proofs of concept, infrastructure and internal tooling. The problems are challenging, unique and practical. This is an engineering role, not an architecture, governance or compliance role.

    What you will do

    • Build proofs of concept, systems and tooling that form our security infrastructure.
    • Implement security designs set by the team lead, taking them from idea to working solution.
    • Prototype quickly in Python and automate where it makes sense.
    • Apply deep networking and Linux knowledge to secure and harden the environment.
    • Bring an attacker's perspective to how systems are built and tested.

    What we are looking for

    • Really strong networking skills
    • Strong Linux proficiency, as the basis for building systems and tooling.
    • Python for prototyping.
    • A practical, hands-on approach over theory.
    • Background at a modern tech company, hyperscaler or cloud business.
    • Senior-level experience. Strong mid-to-senior engineers who are excited by the work will also be considered.

    Nice to have

    • Practical experience in pen-testing or white-hat hacking (a big plus).
    • Automation tooling such as Ansible.

    Not the right fit

    • Profiles centred on theory, governance or compliance.
    • Backgrounds limited to traditional corporate or government environments.

    Interview process

    1. Preliminary interview on network security
    2. Routing and switching interview
    3. Security interview with a senior security engineer
    4. Final interview
